An Open Letter To Rev. Jeremiah Wright

Dear Rev. Wright,

Thank you so much for your speech yesterday.  I am so very glad you found the courage to speak up and clearly articulate your views to the National Press Club.  The media was very enthusiastic about your comments, and frankly it would have taken millions of dollars in commercials to get the coverage you are receiving now.

I want you to know that you truly are an answer to my prayers, and the prayers of millions of my supporters.  We have been hoping for someone like you to come along for quite some time.

My favorite part of your speech was pointing out all of the evils that America is 'guilty' of.  From killing peasants in El Salvador, to creating AIDS to kill minorities, to being responsible for bringing the 9/11 attack on ourselves, you certainly let us know exactly how you feel about America in no uncertain terms.  Using people from Farrakhan's group the Nation of Islam as your personal security detail added just the right touch of irony that I was looking for.

Your spotlight had dimmed quite a bit over the last few weeks, and I was concerned that so little attention has been paid to you and your beliefs; but yesterday sure did change all that!  I surely expect to hear excerpts of your words over and over in the coming months.  I am quite certain they will be ringing in the ears of millions of Americans this November.  See you at the polls!

With utmost gratitude.
Your Friend,

Senator John McCain
